The activities of 33rd Series of SPP started in October 2009. The Council contacted experts from Indian Institute of Science and various R&D institutions in identifying thrust areas for selection of student projects.
The Council received about a 1000 project proposals from various disciplines from about 100 institutions in the State. These proposals were scrutinized by experts from Indian Institute of Science and other R&D institutions. After rigorous processing, 300 proposals were supported and sponsored with a total financial assistance of about Rs. 16 Lakhs.
Demonstration of the implemented projects were evaluated by experts. Based on methodology and final output, 79 projects were selected for exhibition and 76 projects for Seminar.
The Council organised the 34th Series Seminar and Exhibition on 6th and 7th August 2010, at Shridevi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Tumkur. The Guests of Honor released the SPP Engineering and Biofuel Compendium. Seminars and Exhibition of selected projects were held in those two days. The projects exhibited were evaluated by a panel of scientists and engineers from Indian Institute of Science and National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore and other research organizations. In addition to these, special lectures were arranged.
Valedictory programme was held on 7th August 2010 at 3.30 PM. Prizes were distribued to award winning projects and colleges. 6 projects were selected as best seminar projects, 9 projects as best exhibit projects . Under biofuel projects two projects was adjudicated as best projects. The best performing college of the year award went to Proudhadevaraya Institute of Technology, Hospet, Bellary
